Dear Friends and Supporters of Youth Activities,

We need Heroes to build our vision. The Ukiah Valley Cultural and Recreational Center is requesting your financial support to build a multi-use community center for Ukiah Valley youth and their families. Your contribution is essential to the success of this project. This brochure describes our dream. It is a dream that strives to change the lives of children within our community and enhance the quality of life in the Ukiah Valley.

With the support of $1,000,000 from the County of Mendocino Tobacco Settlement Fund, the provision of land and site development from the Ukiah Unified School District, $1,000,000 from a City of Ukiah Community Development Block Grant, $800,000 from the Department of Education , $500,000 from The California Endowment and more than $600,000 in local pledges, the dream is coming true.

On September 19, 2003 the UVCRC board awarded a construction contract to Hilbers, Inc. of Yuba City. The groundbreaking ceremony is set for October 3, 2003. It is estimated that the facility will be complete by mid July of 2004.

We still need your help to raise the last $700,000. Please, consider becoming a donor.

The Angels Campaign: We are seeking individuals who can contribute $5,000 each to forge a community donation base. To date 65 Angels, representing community members and civic groups, have pledged $325,000. A Bronze Plaque will be placed on a wall specially designed to honor these Angels.

The Heroes Campaign: Major corporate and individual donations of more than $25,000 are being solicited. It is an excellent way to honor a loved one or to create a living memorial in someones name. Various rooms of the facility will be named according to the wishes of contributing Heroes. The Brutocoa Family leads the way as the first local Hero.

Patron Donor: A project of this magnitude comes along once in a life. A donation of $500,000 will buy the naming rights of the facility.

With your generous support, the Ukiah Valley Cultural and Recreational Center will become a vital part of our community. This center will play a significant role in the lives of Ukiah Valley youth for generations to come.

Respectfully,
Marvin Trotter, Board President
